Gestural Abstraction - I love having the opportunity a solo show provides. It gives me permission to push myself in a different direction. I start to explore different techniques and materials. I love mark making and gestural lines. I have tried to incorporate them into an abstract format. I’ve always been drawn to Japanese mark making and their simplicity. I have tried to bring that simplicity into the work and remain abstract.

I am not a writer. My feelings are hard to translate into words, so I paint. This series brought with it, a calmness to me and the work. I hope it translates in that way to the viewer.
